The new & improved self-esteem

Article Abstract:

Researchers have found that self-mastery, or getting along in the world and knowing one's ability to handle various situations, is more important than self-esteem. Another study revealed that pep talks and other self-esteem messages can backfire . N ew ways to view and build self-esteem and the concept of social and emotional learning, are discussed.

Self esteem: the repair kit

Article Abstract:

People want to be liked and approved of, and whether craving for attention and needing to feel important is healthy or not depends on the extent people will go to to get it. A personal narrative of getting a sense of validation and being able to build self-esteem through therapy is presented.
