The skinny on protection

Many athletes spend many hours in the sun, increasing their risk of developing skin cancer and prematurely-aged skin. Dermatologists recommend using a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB, with a SPF of 20 or more. Wearing a hat, lip protection and sunglasses are also advisable.

The bushed league

Article Abstract:

Chronic fatigue syndrome appears to occur more often in people who are physically active. Symptoms include fatigue, swollen glands, fevers, headaches and memory lapses. Although the disease has been discounted by some doctors, new research gives credence to its existence.

Rubbed the right way: how to get the most out of your massage

Article Abstract:

The American Massage Therapy Assoc says there are three major types of sports-massage applications: training, injury specific, and pre- and post-event. A light, nonspecific massage is usually best pre-event, while deep-tissue massage often promotes healing from injuries.
