Article Abstract:

Federal funds allocated to prostate cancer research increased 646% between 1988 and 1996 due to the efforts of influential men who went public with their cancer. This should not pose a threat to breast cancer activists since the disease, which kills 40,000-50,000 men each year, affects women through their sexual relationships.
