Your nightmare, my dream: ultrarunning isn't that big a step up from a marathon, really

Article Abstract:

Ultrarunners switch from marathon running through city streets, to running trails, many of them steep, vertical, and rocky. They train to run eight to 20-min miles. Building an endurance base is essential for success as an ultrarunner. Tips are given for switching from marathons to long trail runs.

A University of North Texas study found that aerobic and anaerobic capacity in women was higher in the afternoon. Women athletes need to follow the cycles of their bodies for proper training.
