A bacterial E3 ubiquitin ligase targets a host protein kinase to disrupt plant immunity

Article Abstract:

AvrPtoB, a type III effector contains an E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets a host protein kinase, Fen to disrupt and damage the immunity of a plant. Fen physically interacts with the effector and activates the plant immune system, hence providing it a highly conserved host resistance mechanism.

Soil biota and exotic plant invasion

Article Abstract:

Invasive plants pose problems to the conservation of ecosystem. Soil biota in some invaded ecosystems promote exotic invasion, which may prove useful to the ecosystem.
