A new opportunity for science in Europe

Article Abstract:

An organization called Euroscience is proposed to be established to address issues of development of a two-way channel of communication between the scientific community and public. Euroscience is intended to be a common platform for scientists, teachers, students and all persons interested in science and its consequences. Euroscience will be an open association rather than an academy, learned society or a trade union. Founding membership was relatively restricted only to ensure scientific credibility at the initial stages.

US to rule on use of science in regulations

Article Abstract:

The US EPA's acceptance of Republican proposals for risk assessment legislation showed that the Clinton administration will be able to implement laws that will enhance the application of science for public health. This will promote the interlinking of science and government regulation and will necessitate the provision of scientific basis and evidence of regulation in issues ranging from water pollution, occupational health and air transport.
