A new protected area for Tibetan antelope

Article Abstract:

The Wildlife Conservation Society and the Patagonio Company financed a guardpost and training courses to prevent poaching of chiru or Tibetan Antelopes. The area was developed as the West Kunlun Natural Reserve for chiru and other wildlife. The government's effots to conserve the Tibetan antelopes are discussed.

Swedish scientist Annika Felton is conducting a year of field research into the fate of the spider monkey in the Guarayos forests of Bolivia's Amazon Basin. As a volunteer who spent a month with Felton's research project, Annika describes the experience as adventurous, though grueling at times.

High on hornbills

Article Abstract:

Hornbills are large, upto four feet in length, mostly dark in color birds, which have spectacular-looking beaks with adornments called casques. The conservation needs in Arunachal Pradesh meant to conserve the wildlife and wildlife habitats are emphasized.
