A pair choice test to identify female mating pattern relative to ovulation in longtailed macaques, Macaca fascicularis

Article Abstract:

The female mammals may exert choice for mates directly by mating selectively in longtailed macaques, Macaca fascicularis, and alternatively the females can mate promiscuously allowing sperm competition or cryptic female choice to operate on them. Thus, the female preferences were not based on male dominance rank and the nature of mating preferences and the adaptive significance of promiscuity in female primates were also, examined.

Timing and probability of ovulation in relation to sex skin swelling in wild West African chimpanzees, Pan troglodytes verus

Article Abstract:

The non-invasive hormone analysis are combined for assessing female reproductive status with measurements of swelling changes to examine the temporal relation between sexual swelling an ovulation in free-ranging chimpanzees of the Tai National Park, Cote d'Ivoire. The perineal swelling in wild chimpanzees indicates the probability of ovulation, but does not provide any information to deduce its exact timing.

Context-specific calls in wild chimpanzees, Pan troglodytes versus: analysis of barks

Article Abstract:

Analysis of whether the barks of wild male chimpanzees in the Tai Forest, Cote d'Ivoire, are context specific is done as context-specific calls are selectively produced in specific contexts. The acoustic structure of barks, and other calls produced in association with barks in six contexts is examined using discriminant function analysis.
