A single-photon turnstile device

Article Abstract:

Quantum-mechanical interference between quantum particles has a profound affect on their arrival time and counting statistics. Manipulation of quantum-statistic properties of photons of non-classical sources demonstrate features usually associated with fermions, including sub-poissonian and anti-bunching. Experimental progress in generating a flow of single photons with well regulated time intervals is reported.

A photon in solitary confinement

Article Abstract:

The atomic dark resonance technique put forward by optics researchers Imamoglu et al might lead to the use of a single-proton optical cavity in information processing technology. The exciting research establishes that only one trapped photon would exist in the cavity at any one time. Optical quantum research is continuing based on the Kerr nonlinearity principal.

Sharper images by focusing soft X-rays with photon sieves

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of photon sieves to focus soft X-rays on spot sizes which are smaller than the smallest sieve pinhole's diameter. The suppression of secondary maxima and diffraction is discussed.
