AIDS activists fail to block 'reasonable pricing' reform

Article Abstract:

The National Task Force on AIDS Drug Development supports the elimination of the reasonable pricing clause in the National Institute of Health's (NIH) agreements between intramural researchers and the industry. AIDS activists in favor of strengthening the clause are protesting against the task force's plans. Critics are stepping up pressure for the removal of the clause, claiming it to be a hindrance to collaboration between intramural researchers and the industry.

NIH to review priorities in readiness for future cuts...

Article Abstract:

The reduction in funds for biomedical expenditure has forced the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to identify research disciplines whose budgets may be reduced. Various research projects, especially those dealing with AIDS, will have to be abandoned due to reduction in funds. The reduction in the budget for biomedical research will be implemented regardless of the government in power.
