Absence of S6K1 protects against age-and diet-induced obesity while enhancing insulin sensitivity

Article Abstract:

A report that S6K1-deficient mice are protected against obesity owing to enhanced beta-oxidation is presented. In case of fat diet, levels of glucose and free fatty acids still rise in S6Ki-deficient mice resulting in insulin receptor desensitization.

The lipid phosphatase SHIP2 controls insulin sensitivity

Article Abstract:

Research into mice lacking type-II SH2-domain-containing inositol 5-phosphatase, or SHIP2, shows that its loss causes increased sensitivity to insulin.
