The story of how Amanda Walker-Serrano, an eight-year-old third grader, campaigned against her class trip to the circus is related. Amanda's belief that circus hurts animals has driven her to continue her fight for animal welfare despite her young age and the discouragement of her teachers.

Members of the Citizens to End Animal Suffering and Exploitation and the New England Anti-Vivisection of Boston witnessed inhuman treatment of birds when they demonstrated at the Hegins Pigeon Shoot. The activists were also harassed by shoot supporters.
