An aluminum nitride light-emitting diode with a wavelength of 210 nanometers

Article Abstract:

The successful control of both n-type and p-type doping in aluminum nitride (AIN), which has a very wide direct bandgap of 6 eV is reported. The emission is attributed to an exciton transition, and represents an important step towards achieving exciton-related light-emitting devices as well as replacing gas light sources with solid-state light sources.

A semiconductor source of triggered entangled photon pairs

Article Abstract:

Entangled photon pairs are an important resource in quantum optics and are essential for quantum information applications such as quantum key distribution and controlled quantum logic operations. Results suggest that a triggered entangled photon pair source could be implemented by a simple semi conducted light-emitting diode.

Super-resolving phase measurements with a multiphoton entangled state

Article Abstract:

A technique for producing a maximally entangled three-photon state from initially non-entangled photons is demonstrated. The method can in dprinciple be applied to generate states of arbitrary photon number, giving large improvement in measurement resolution.
