Anglo-US concern

Article Abstract:

US Pres Bill Clinton and UK Prime Minister John Major are both contemplating means of improving industrial innovation. However, they have divergent opinions on how best to use science and technology in achieving this goal. The Clinton administration is scrutinizing government objectives which determine funding for research while Major's government, through the Dept of Trade and Industry, is looking for ways of fostering direct contribution of science and technology to industrial innovation.

Delaney must go

Article Abstract:

The decision of the US congress to ban some agricultural pesticides is not sound. The US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has banned the use of more than 20 chemicals which are quite harmless. Environmentalists' judgments are incorrect because agricultural pesticides are essential for some foods such as grapes, potatoes and tomatoes. The US government should not base its decision solely on the unfounded fears of environmentalists.
