Sheikh Bin Baz

Article Abstract:

Sheikh Abdel-Aziz Bin Baz was a senior cleric in Saudi Arabia. He was asked for a religious decree by Saudi Arabia's King Fahd after Kuwait was invaded by Iraq, and Sheikh Bin Baz ruled that a Muslim state could appeal for help from a non-Muslim state in the case of extreme emergency. He had made some pronouncements that liberal princes found embarrassing, such as that it was immoral to photograph living things, but he was able to provide Islamic approval to princes. The Middle East peace process was also backed by Sheikh Bin Baz.

Animal mitochondrial DNA recombination

Article Abstract:

Differences in variable number tandem repeat sequences in mitochondrial DNA are known to occur through genetic recombination. In a study involving the phytonematode 'Meloidogyne javanica,' it was observed that recombination in animal mDNA would create reciprocal, double-stranded subgenomic circles closed by covalent bonds. These end products are produced by the breakage and the subsequent rejoining of DNA strands.
