Betting on the ranch

Article Abstract:

Family ranches have disappeared as young people leave and the land is consolidated into huge operations. Hence a Beginning Rancher Program aimed at saving wetlands and creating a way of life on the plains was established, in which the Daniels, who have family roots in ranching, got a five-year lease agreement with the option to buy the ranch at its 2005 appraised value, minus the price of the easement.
