Blood lead levels of common ravens with access to big-game offal

Article Abstract:

The blood samples from common ravens (Corvus cortex) scavenging on hunter-killed large ungulates and their offal piles are examined in order to determine if lead rifle-bullet residuum is the point source for lead ingestion in ravens. The results have confirmed that ravens are ingesting lead during the hunting season and might be exposed to lead from rifle-shot big-game offal piles.
