Boundaries and corridors as a continuum of ecological flow control: Lessons from rivers and streams

Article Abstract:

The differences and similarities between boundaries and corridors in terms of mover specificity, scale, and effects on different levels of ecological organization, using rivers and streams is discussed. Results reveal that understanding the similarities between corridors and boundaries may help interpreting the movement of organisms across the landscape and determine points of vulnerability to the spread of exotics.

Ecological effects of roads

Article Abstract:

This article addresses diverse areas of ecological research relating to roads emphasizing how they affect ecosystems, biological communities, and species in several and diverse ways. The study mentions many exotic plants species thriving along roadsides and serving as seed dispersal sources.

Estuarine vegetated habitats as corridors for predator movements

Article Abstract:

The ecological communities of intertidal oyster reefs in close proximity to vegetated estuaries, salt marshes, and seagrass beds are examined. Topics discussed include benthic macroinvertebrates, predator-prey interactions, and strategies for species conservation in fragmented habitats.
