Can super-antibody drugs be tamed?

Article Abstract:

Volunteers at London's Northwick Park Hospital who were put in intensive care were probably struck by a huge immune reaction called a cytokne storm, a flood of inflammatory molecules released by cells called helper T cells which shut down their organs in hours. The UK Medical and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which approved the trial, revealed that it has found no evidence of contamination in the treatments, which means the devastating effects were almost certainly caused by TGN1412 itself.

Climate panel offers grounds for optimism

Article Abstract:

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has produced an optimistic analysis of the possibility of mitigating climate change in its fourth assessment report. The new report might trigger the discussion on the issue of regulating carbon emissions once the Kyoto Protocol on climate change runs out in 2012.
