Progenitor cells from human brain after death

Article Abstract:

The culture of neural progenitor cells from human brain tissue after death is described. The isolation and culture of neural progenitor cells from surgical specimens and post-mortem tissues led in most cases to viable progenitor cells.

Expression and function of orphan nuclear receptor TLX in adult neural stem cells

Article Abstract:

An experiment reveling importance of TLX in maintaining adult neural stem cells in an undifferentiated, proliferative state is depicted. TLX can silence glia-specific expression of the astrocyte marker GFAP in neural stem cells, suggesting transcriptional repression as crucial cause in maintaining undifferentiated state.

Cell fusion-independent differentiation of neural stem cells to the endothelial lineage

Article Abstract:

The mouse neutral stem cells (NSCs), which are committed to become neurons and glial cells, with human endothelial cells that form the lining of blood vessels are co-cultured. It was concluded that stem -cell plasticity was a true characteristic of NSCs and the conversion of NSCs to unanticipated cell types could be accomplished without cell fusion.
