Central nervous system control of food intake and body weight

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms of the central nervous system (CNS) that regulate food intake are described and a review of the evidence that in response to reduced body fat stores, adaptive changes occur in neuronal systems governing both food-seeking behavior and satiety perception is provided. A biological context within which to consider the global obesity epidemic is presented and numerous potential avenues for therapeutic intervention and future research are identified.

Hydrogen quick and clean

Article Abstract:

A catalytic system is developed that enables production of pure hydrogen, the basic power source of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells, from methanol at a much higher rate than previously achieved. A permeable catalytic layer assists in the oxidation of most carbon monoxide and methanol used, making them harmless before they reach the membrane, while letting the hydrogen to filter through, to be used as the power source in laptops.

It's all in the timing

Article Abstract:

Researchers have found that the time and the age at which a person takes the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) might predict the clinical outcome. The impact of taking HRT during or before menopause on the brain is discussed.
