Changes in bird abundance following selective logging on Seram, Indonesia

Article Abstract:

Selective logging has significantly impacted endemic bird species on the Indonesian island of Seram. Findings may have extended implications as logging concessions cover up to 90% of forest on some islands. Logged forests demonstrated reduced diversity and decreased population. Since many bird species are island specific, logging concessions may pose an extinction threat.

Mass differences among male mangabey monkeys inhabiting logged and unlogged forest compartments

Article Abstract:

On comparison, adult male gray-cheeked mangabeys in logged forest were found heavier than their counterparts in unlogged forest. Difference in tissue mass found at the Kibale National Park, Uganda was explained by differences in habitat type.
