Charge fluctuations in YBa2Cu3O7-x high-temperature superconductors

Article Abstract:

Striped phases are of possible interest in a variety of materials, and new evidence shows the existence of such a phase in high-temperature cuprate superconductors. The distribution of electronic charge and spin is not homogenous, but separates into a dynamic arrangement in which the Cu spins form antiferromagnetic stripes separated by charged domain walls. Neutron scattering measurements of the lattice dynamics of YBa2Cu3O7-x reveal charge fluctuations consistent with the presence of a striped phase.

IBM Halts Output 'PCjr' - Analysts Predict Powerful New PC

Article Abstract:

In March 1985, IBM announced production stoppage of the PCjr due to poor sales performance. The company plans a replacement of the product. The move offers several advantages including the freedom to lower the price of the IBM PC, and the ability to increase production of the PC-AT, which is much in demand. For the next five years, IBM will continue to service and support the PCjr.
