Cladogenesis and morphological diversification in passerine birds

Article Abstract:

Multiple regressions are used to evaluate the effects of time and species number on morphological diversity within clades of passerine birds. The results shows that the number of species exerts a strong influence on morphological variance independent of time and thus morphological evolution in birds seems to be associated with cladogenesis.

Chemical warfare for NYC's birds

Article Abstract:

A bill banning the use of Avitrol in New York, NY, was introduced in 1998 in response to growing concerns about its hazardous effects. The use of Avitrol to kill birds that are considered as pests in the city has done more harm than good, causing the deaths of other birds and mammals.
