Compassion Campaign

Article Abstract:

Compassion Campaign '96 is a joint effort aimed at promoting awareness of animal issues within the presidential election process. Begun in 1982, the campaign believes that animal protection legislation will be enacted only when legislators feel that the issue has become a major concern for voters.

Article Abstract:

An interesting highlight during the World Animal Awareness Week in Washington, D.C. in Jun. 1996 was the historic alliance of animal rights and AIDS activists. The two groups were originally pitted against each other by the pharmaceutical industry for political reasons.
