Conservation Benefits of Temperate Marine Protected Areas: Variation among Fish Species

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that towed-fishing-gear restriction zones have a positive effect on fish weight and levels of decline. Data are drawn from sport-fishing catch trends among nine fish species in restriction zones and adjacent areas with conventional fishery management.

Sensitivity of Marine-Reserve Design to the Spatial Resolution of Socioeconomic Data

Fine-resolution socioeconomic data are shown to be a key factor in improving the design and development of cost-effective marine reserve networks, as opposed to low- or coarse-resolution data.
