Continuum of overlapping clones spanning the entire human chromosome 21q

Article Abstract:

A new map shows that human chromosome 21q consists of a continuous assemblage of clones that overlap each other. The map was derived from human yeast artificial chromosomes for which sequence-tagged sites served as landmarks that were located by polymerase chain reaction. The yeast artificial contiguous unit begins with pericentromeric loci and terminates with subtelomeric loci of 21q. The map agrees with other physical and genetic mapping evidence and should lead to further research on the form and purpose of particular chromosomes.

A comprehensive genetic map of the human genome based on 5,264 microsatellites

Article Abstract:

The final version of the Genethon human linkage map is presented. It is comprised of 5,264 short tandem (AC/TG) repeat polymorphisms with a mean heterozygosity of 70%. These markers are distributed in 2,335 positions, of which 2,032 could be ordered with an odds ratio of at least 1,000:1 against alternative orders. The map facilitates linkage mapping of monogenic diseases to the centimorgan level in most instances.

Human chromosome 11 DNA sequence and analysis including novel gene identification

Article Abstract:

Chromosome 11 is one of the most gene and disease-rich chromosomes in the human genome. The physical map, high-quality finished sequence and gene catalogue of chromosome 11 are presented, to provide a solid basis for understanding the unique characteristics, genetic basis of associated disorders and functions of this chromosome.
