Cosmopolitan among Gondwanan Late Cretaceous mammals

Article Abstract:

Evidence suggests that a distinctive Sudamericidae (Gondwanatheria) group of extinct mammals existed in the Late Cretaceous of India and Madagascar. Previous data has failed to indicate cosmopolitanism among such mammals, with the data representing the first account of Gondwanatheres outside South America. The biogeographic connection between Indo-Madagascar and South America may have been provided by Antarctica. Other early Cretaceous mammals have only been discovered in Morocco, Cameroon, Australia and Argentina.
