Small self-RNA generated by RNase L amplifies antiviral innate immunity

Article Abstract:

The activation of the antiviral endoribonuclease (RNase L) by 2',5'-linked oligoadenylate (2-5A) has produced small RNA cleavage products from self-RNA that has initiated interferon (IFN). The results have shown that RNase L has played a vital role in the innate antiviral immune response that relives the requirement for direct sensing of non-self RNA.

Interferon modulation of cellular microRNAs as an antiviral mechanism

Article Abstract:

Study is presented which demonstrates that IFN[alpha]/[beta] upregulates several cellular miRNAs that are capable of inhibiting hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication and infection.
