Crystal structure of an H/ACA box ribonucleoprotein particle

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of an entire archael H/ACA ribonucleoprotein particle (RNP) is determined and a model of the substrate complex is built in order to understand the organization of the complex, and the mechanism of RNA-guided pseudouridylation. It is learnt that separating the function of substrate recognition to guide RNA allows H/ACA RNPs to maintain an invariant structural core and specifically target different substrates once programmed with different guide RNAs.

Structure of the parainfluenza virus 5 F protein in its metastable, prefusion conformation

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of the parainfluenza virus 5 F protein in its prefusion conformation, stabilized by the addition of a carboxy-terminal trimerization domain is reported. The structure of the F protein shows that there are profound conformational differences between the pre and postufusion states, involving transformations in secondary and tertiary structure.

Structure of the blue cornflower pigment

Article Abstract:

The X-ray crystal structure of the cornflower pigment is discussed. A tetranuclear metal complex comprising of one molecule each of anthocyanin, flavone, ferric iron, magnesium and two calcium ions is responsible for the blue color in the cornflower.
