Death on the range: the slaughter of the Yellowstone bison

Article Abstract:

Montana has a policy authorizing state officials to kill bison that wander beyond the protective boundary of the Yellowstone National Park. Since 1985, the state government has allowed the slaughter of over 1,800 stray bison. The Montana Dept. of Livestock cannot offer any valid justification for this policy.

Sea gull slaughter

Several thousand sea gulls in South Monomoy Island were killed as a result of a poisoning program implemented by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). The USFWS believed that the deaths of the seagulls would result in an increase in the population of piping plovers.
