Developing and applying habitat models using forest inventory data: An example using a terrestrial salamander

Article Abstract:

Preexisting vegetation, physical and spatial data in association with animal sampling data was used to provide a framework for developing predictive species habitat models. Results indicated that systematically collected forest inventory data had significant value in developing wildlife habitat models when combined with samples of animal occurrence.

Effectiveness of scat detection dogs for detecting forest carnivores

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness and accuracy of scat detection dogs for detecting forest carnivores was examined. Results concluded that detection dogs can effectively locate large numbers of scats from carnivores and was unaffected by site- or visit-specific covariates.

Resting habitat selection by fishers in California

Article Abstract:

The resting habitat ecology of fishers in two disjunct populations in California, namely the northwestern coastal mountains and the southern Sierra Nevada is examined. The resting structures and their compared features are described.
