Dirac's hidden geometry

Article Abstract:

Scientist Paul Dirac insisted that his approach to quantum physics was geometric and not algebraic but failed to give evidence of this in his pioneering, algebra-rich papers. He had a perfect opportunity to clarify the point at a speech he gave in the autumn of 1972 at Boston University but after giving a short, clear presentation he stopped before connecting it to the quantum world.

Strong polarization enhancement in asymmetric three-component ferroelectric superlattices

Article Abstract:

Superlattices consisting of barium titanate, strontium titanate and calcium titanate are fabricated with atomic-scale control by high-pressure pulsed laser deposition on conduction, atomically flat strontium ruthenate layers. It is revealed that the specific interface structure and local asymmetries play an unexpected role in the polarization enhancement.
