Distinct classes of chromosomal rearrangements create oncogenic ETS gene fusions in prostate cancer

Article Abstract:

The mechanism of ETV1 outlier expression in human prostate tumours and prostate cancer cell lines is explored. The identification of distinct classes of ETS gene rearrangement has demonstrated that dormant oncogenes can be activated in prostate cancer by juxtaposition to tissue-specific or ubiquitously active genomic loci.

Methane oxidation by an extremely acidophilic bacterium of the phylum Verrucomicrobia

Article Abstract:

An extremely acidophilic methanotroph that exhibits taxonomically, ecologically and genetically diverse methanotrophy is described. Its phylogenetic placement in the phylum Verrucomicrobia and its extremely acidophilic phenotype are its distinct properties.

Delineation of prognostic biomarkers in prostate cancer

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to identify many links between genes and prostate cancer. By directly comparing hybridizations of normal and neoplastic tissues, this work emphasized genes that molecularly distinguish benign tissue from malignant.
