Do habitat corridors provide connectivity?

Article Abstract:

Many skeptics question the value of corridors in providing landscape connectivity. Some have even suggested that corridors are dangerous. However, many of the studies reviewed provided few persuasive evidence regarding the value of corridors. Others studies were inconclusive because of design flaws. Those who question the value of corridors must provide evidence as to its dangers before asking for their elimination.

Beyond Kyoto: forest management in a time of rapid climate change

Article Abstract:

The properties of forest ecosystems and management options for increasing the resistance and resilience of forests to climate change are discussed. Studies suggest that good forest management in a time of rapidly changing climate differs little from good forest management under more static conditions, but there is increased emphasis on protecting climatic refugia and providing habitat connectivity.

Arguing over little things: Response to Haddad et al.

Article Abstract:

Conservation biologists need to learn more about the species-specific behavior and anatomical and physiological constraints determining use of corridors and other habitat features. Experiments and observational studies on corridors are important and complementary.
