Domestic goats, Capra hircus, follow gaze direction and use social cues in an object choice task

Article Abstract:

The social cognitive skills of domestic goats in tasks of gaze following to outside locations that they cannot directly see and object choice is discussed. Results showed that goats used communicative cues like touching and pointing and not gaze by itself for communication.

Segregation is not only a matter of sex in Alpine ibex, Capra ibex ibex

Article Abstract:

Research into spatial, social and habitat segregation between age and sex classes among two Alpine ibex populations is presented. It was found that social and spatial segregation between the sexes was much greater than habitat segregation in both populations.

Influence of the kid on space use and habitat selection of female Alpine Ibex

Article Abstract:

The home-range sizes and habitat selection in mammalian females is affected by parturition and weaning as studied in Alpine ibex females. The smaller home ranges are characteristic of lactating and weaning females due to their antipredator behavior.
