Ecological heterogeneity in the effects of grazing and fire on grassland diversity

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on grazing and fire. The authors have investigated the effects of live-stock grazing and fire in serpentine and nonserpentine soils in California, and the results suggest that the use of fire and grazing in managing native species diversity in wildlands have to be dome with attention to ecological heterogeneity.

Enhancement of Farmland Biodiversity within Set-Aside Land

Article Abstract:

Both North American and European data support the biodiversity benefits of removing land from conventional agricultural production. While policies that specifically target biodiversity may be more effective, plants and animals in farmland are protected by this process.

Estimating diversity in unsampled habitats of a biogeographical province

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on estimation of species in a biogeorgaphical province. The authors have evaluated the methods developed to overcome sample-size limits within a single habitat, and report the results.
