Effects of zoonotic disease attributes on public attitudes towards wildlife management

Article Abstract:

The uncertainty and severity associated with a zoonotic disease's relation to public management attitude and preferences and the way in which immigrant attitudes and preferences differ from those of long-term residents in the rural areas of the intermountain west, is addressed using a personally administered questionnaire. Findings suggest solicitation and consideration of public input for type A zoonotic disease management and promotion of hunting or developing a viable lethal management alternative.

Reconciling wildlife management's conflicted purpose with a land community worldview

Article Abstract:

The concept of changing from the traditional worldview of science, society and nature to land community world view is discussed. This requires relinquishing the illusion of absolute objectivity and a fall from status as neutral arbiters of knowledge but provide a means for honorably seeking reliable knowledge, serving the public and respecting the land community.
