Research is presented concerning the use of acetaminophen to control the populations of Brown Treesnakes which have decimated birdlife on Guam. The use of a robust design model to determine the success of the project is discussed.

Brown tree snake response to visual and olfactory cues

Article Abstract:

The nocturnal brown tree snake is an introduced species on Guam where it is causing the decline and extinction of many native species. Currently, the snake is trapped with live bait to prevent its spread elsewhere. The development of an artificial lure for the snake requires information about its foraging behavior. An new study evaluates the efficacy of chemical and visual lures for capturing snakes. The study suggests that lures may require complex visual and odor stimuli if they are to be successful.
