Diversity peaks at intermediate productivity in a laboratory microcosm

Article Abstract:

Research examining the relationship between species diversity and productivity using laboratory cultures of bacteria is described. The uni-modal relationship is thought to be caused by selection.

Evolution of cooperation and conflict in experimental bacterial populations

Article Abstract:

An evolutionary transition that occurs in experimental populations of Pseudomonas fluorescens propagated in a spatially heterogeneous environment is described. Evolution of cooperation and conflict in experimental bacterial populations is discussed.
