Fears of cults and kooks push Congress towards cloning ban

Article Abstract:

After a congressional hearing made it known that attempts are being made by various organizations to clone a human, U.S. authorities are working towards banning reproductive cloning. The means by which this research can be banned is, however, a problem as some scientists believe that a blanket ban of human cloning may inhibit the use of cloning for therapeutic use and useful scientific research.

Polarizing energy transfer in photoluminescent materials for display applications

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that polymer-based photoluminescent polarizer devices have superior light-producing qualities than less efficient liquid crystal display devices. Polarizer devices with random oriented 'sensitizer' molecules and efficient energy transfer mechanisms are used with a uniaxially oriented photoluminescent polymer to emit coloured light.

Patterning of polymer-supported metal films by microcutting

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the development of a method of producing metallic structures which are well resolved onto polymer substrates. The use of this method for polarizing and electrically conducting structures is discussed.
