Improving credibility of instructions in the balanced placebo design: a misattribution manipulation

Article Abstract:

The feasibility of two techniques developed to improve the credibility of the balanced placebo design (BPD) when using substantial alcohol dosage was investigated to show the influence of credible alternate attribution for internal hints of intoxication. The placebo drug group had less degree of drunkenness without the physical debilitation compared to the tachistoscopic drug group. The results suggested that credible attribution for internal symptoms of intoxication reinforces the credibility of instructors, thereby enhancing the validity of the antiplacebo cell of the BPD.
