Fruit bats as reservoirs of Ebola virus

Article Abstract:

The fruit bats species eaten by people in central Africa show evidence of symptomless Ebola infection where there is the first recorded human outbreak of Ebola virus. The human infection directly from fruit bats can be countered by education where animals are eaten as local population and other bat and animal species act as Ebola virus reservoirs.

Host immunity and synchronized epidemics of syphilis across the United States

Article Abstract:

Epidemics of primary and secondary syphilis infection in the United states is shown to represent a rare example of unforced, endogenous oscillations in disease incidence. The conclusion is supported by the absence of oscillations in gonorrhea cases, where a protective immune response is absent.
