Genetics and the making of Homo sapiens

Article Abstract:

One of the great new challenges in biology is the understanding of the genetic basis of the physical and behavioural traits that distinguish humans from other primates. The complex genetic architecture of human evolution is examined.

Gene duplication and the adaptive evolution of a classic genetic switch

Article Abstract:

The impact of gene duplication and divergence on the adaptive evolution of a classic genetic switch is discussed. The duplication process is found to lead to the formation of different site configuration of the genes.

The big picture

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the evolution of life on Earth. The evolutionary processes which are made up of micro- and macro-evolutionary events are discussed within the complexity of the whole process.
