Glowing developments

Article Abstract:

Prototypes of the application of electrically driven emission of light (electroluminescence) from non-crystalline organic materials in flat-panel light-emitting displays have been exhibited. Significant developments have been made with electroluminescent polymers, and operational voltages of <5V and efficiencies of several per cent now seem to be standard. Progress has been made in several areas, including the control of the electronic properties of the semiconductor-electrode interfaces.

A 6-person panel of experts discuss the history of women's economic progress, and how women in the workforce and women consumers have changed the economy. Women still face many economic barriers in the structure of jobs, the inequality in the sharing of housework and childcare by men, and the levels of disposable income. Education and national dialog are suggested as ways to change.
