Hedgehog is an early and late mediator of pancreatic cancer tumorigenesis

Article Abstract:

It is reported that the sonic hedgehog, a secreted hedgehog ligand, is abnormally expressed in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and its precursor lesions: pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia. The maintenance of hedgehog signalling is important for aberrant proliferation and tumorigenesis.

Detection of preinvasive cancer cells

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the detection of preinvasive cancer cells through the use of light-scattering spectroscopy. The optical-probe technique's ability to detect early cancerous changes in epithelia is discussed.
