Forced degradation of Fas inhibits apoptosis in adenovirus-infected cells

Article Abstract:

It has been established that receptor internalization and degradation (RID) is required for the internalization of the cell-surface receptor Fas into lysomes, the inhibition of Fas-induced apoptosis and the degradation of Fas in lysosomes. RID may prolong acute adenovirus infections by clearing Fas from the cell surface and reducing killing by leukocytes that express Fas ligands. It is also possible that RID promotes persistent adenovirus infections in leukocytes.

Nf-kappaB is a target of AKT in anti-apoptotic PDGF signalling

Article Abstract:

It is has been shown that, in platelet-derived growth factor signalling, proliferative and pro-apoptotic (c-Myc induction) and anti-apoptotic signals bifurcate at the level of NF-kappaB. The induction of pro-apoptotic c-Myc is mediated by NF-kappaB, which also delivers an anti-apoptotic signal balancing out c-Myc cytotoxicity. This finding may clarify why the ability of Ras to transform cells depends on NF-kappaB activation.
