Influence of scramble competition for mates upon the spatial ability of male meadow voles

Article Abstract:

The influence of spatial ability on a male meadow voles' reproductive success is investigated using two different measures of nest visits. The experiments show that males with better spatial ability did not sire more litters or pups, as the female mate choice is based on traits rather than spatial ability.

Effects of male kinship and agonistic behaviour on reproduction and odour preferences of female house mice, Mus domesticus

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine whether male-male aggression affects female fitness and odour preferences in house mice. The findings suggest that while contest competition favours fighting among males, female choice and kin selection favour tolerance.
