Article Abstract:

The adaptive behavior of Pike which move between two basins of a British lake to maximize their evolutionary fitness suggests that habitat selection is more significant in population dynamics. Pike in Lake Windermere provide compelling evidence that the ideal free distribution occurs at much larger scales where populations are regulated and dispersal between basins equalizes fitness and homogenizes population growth.

An exhibition was held at London's newly opened Cartoon Museum, which displayed 1976 cartoon from The Philadelphia Inquirer. The cartoon was a martian housewife banging irritatedly on the ceilings of her underground condo as the Viking 1 probe drills through her roof.
