Neophilia, innovation and social learning: a study of intergeneric differences in Callitrichid monkeys

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the behavior of the species of Leontopithecus, Saguinus and Callithrix. The result supports the hypothesis of Lefebvre, and reveals that species dependent upon manipulative and explorative foraging, tend to be more attentive, innovative and neophilic than other species.

Neighboring male spotted bowerbirds are not related, but do maraud each other

Article Abstract:

A novel method of calculating relatedness, based on amplified fragment length polymorphism, in a population of spotted bowerbirds, is presented. Theoretical models and field studies reveal that across a range of species and especially those with nonresources-based mating systems, males do display kin.
